Taken Purulia, WB in December 2009, in a village where AID Penn State helped in the education of the underprivileged. This girl was the brightest in her class, and her smile has become the face of AID Penn State.

Very memorable day it was. But wasn't this in January?Just being nit-picky.
Where in Purulia was this?
Riten: Yup, it is January. :D In fact I have dated it as December 2009 – we haven't even seen that date yet! :)Kolika: It's technically a tribal village 30kms or so outside Purulia… Riten, do you remember the name of this village?
I think this was the Hura block of Purulia, which as Koke said, was about 30Km from the Purulia main city. This was in one of the 10 villages we visited. Now don't ask for the names of these villages!
Okay. AID Baltimore and AID Portland took up several projects in Para for mom's ngo. whats the NGO you went to audit?
Kokonad,
I often wonder how kids in the poorest of conditions, and often very street smart, still laugh like children. They are like little adults..
I suppose you weren’t thinking so intensly when you took this picture. But its really nice.
cheers

Hi R, and welcome to my blog! :) Thank you for commenting. I was not thinking very intensely while taking this picture, but in reality, it was a very nice day. This was one among 10 villages we went to, for auditing an NGO we support. These kids were different. They WANTED to go to the informal schools we fund… they WANTED to be educated. I remember having spent all my childhood pretty much hating school. It’s a very humbling experience when things are put into perspective.
Thank you once again, for the comment, R! Hope you visit again!
First I saw the picture and loved it. And then read your comment, and now I love the picture ever more. :)
Arch: I am glad you did! :)
Agreeing with Archana up here, I loved it… and now I love it even more :)

Koke, I really like this girl. I’ll keep checking your phlog!
Maria – thanks! :) She is also ‘the face’ of the non-profit I work for :)
